There are so many communities in Michoacán with artisans who create beautiful pottery that is primarily decorative. These could also be called Folk Art. Much of it is burnished (polished) and feature traditional hand painted designs such as the clay pots from award-winning artisans of Huancito we are proud to offer. We also are proud to carry a variety of burnished pieces with Pre-Hispanic deslgns (plates, bowls, and other vessels) from the Hernandez Cano family workshop.
This category also includes other pottery art that is decorative as well as suitable for serving with food as the pottery is made with lead-free glazes. We include here the bowls, plates and platters of Tzintzuntzan artisan Angelica Morales Gamez.
