Large Woven Faja

Stunning woven piece from the Purepecha village of Cuanajo, near Patzcuaro, Michoacán. Fajas are woven on a backstrap loom and feature traditional designs that have been passed down from generation to generation. A faja is a sash or belt, and this large one could be used as a small tablerunner or hung on the wall.

Cotton, 54 inches long (excluding fringe), 3 1/2 inches wide.
